Basic Refrigeration And Air Conditioning By P Ananthanarayanan Salpau

1.What is the basic of Refrigeration? Refrigeration involves the conservation and transport of energy. Energy is that property or substance that may be either in the form of heat or mechanical work. Percussion refrigeration: Percussion refrigeration uses moving air or fluid to transfer heat. Refrigeration systems use a vapor compression cycle for the production of refrigeration. The refrigerant is expanded from low temperature to high temperature, and then compressed from high temperature to low temperature. The refrigerant expands as it absorbs heat from the refrigeration system and is cooled. In the compression stage the refrigerant expands to a high temperature and is compressed again to low temperature. 2.The working of a Refrigeration system The refrigeration system consists of 1.The Compressor which is the agent to compress refrigerant into the liquefied phase. 2.The evaporator which is the system to absorb the heat from the surroundings by converting refrigerant to a liquid. 3.The condenser which is the system to remove the heat from the liquid refrigerant. 4.The expansion valve which is the system to change the pressure of the refrigerant and expand it. 5.The receiver which is the system to collect the liquid refrigerant. 6.The expansion pipe which is the system to make the refrigerant liquid and refrigerant gas mixture. 7.The evaporator coil which is the system to absorb the heat from the surroundings by converting refrigerant to a liquid. 8.The condenser coil which is the system to remove the heat from the liquid refrigerant. 9.The compressor coil which is the system to convert the refrigerant gas into the refrigerant liquid. 3.What are the refrigerant? A.Refrigerant is the liquid that is used for refrigeration. The refrigerant absorbs the heat from the refrigeration system and it is expanded and condensed by turning into a gas and then converted to a liquid. The refrigerant is then returned to the compressor and recharged. The refrigerants are commonly referred to as Gases and are classified into the following classes of refrigerants: a.Aluorofluorocarbons (AFCs): (R134a, R12, R22 and R410a) b.Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs): (R11, R12, R113, R114, R115, R116, R118, R 01e38acffe Category:Heating, ventilating, and air conditioning Category:Refrigeration Category:Thermodynamicse s t v a l u e i n - 2 / 3 , - 1 2 , - 4 , 1 / 3 , 4 2 5 / 6 ? 4 2 5 / 6 W h a t i s t h e t h i r d s m a l l e s t v a l u e i n 0 , - 4 2 , 3 / 2 , 2 , - 3 ? 0 W h i c h i s t h e t h i r d b i g g e s t v a l u e ?
